In the beginning she shared the space with other artists, but at this moment she combined her love for organizing and creating with founding an artist run space. With her strength for DIY she renovated the front part of the shop building into a project space, with a new look for every project. Her own studio is in the back of the building with corridors and chambers full of books, wood, colorful images, tools, wigs, textile and other materials. inside Moose Space film night, 2018 photo on Facebook page Moose SpaceIn the end of September she will present a zine about the project Passive Activists. In the three editions of the project over 30 artists participated with their work. Mostly for group screenings, as well as performances, lectures and designs. The concept of the project is formulated by Charlotte herself. She was inspired by the medium video and how it is used nowadays. "It is not for Moose Space to act as a moral knight, but rather to provide space for an ambiguous discussion with artists worldwide who stir the (silent) drum."Moose Space was founded because of a 'lack of something'while Charlotte explained the link with almost all her work. "If I experience a lack of something than I immediately feel the urge to make it myself." This DIY-mentality illustrates her work and places her among her favorite artists. From a small child she often was searching for a solution for things that she criticized and she learned how to organize well. "I became what I yearned for, in stead of getting or taking it. I have to make it myself first."Charlotte van Winden in her studio, photo © Polly Picker - VermeulenSince a short time her work has changed from more isolated in the work process into works made with others or collectives. "I guess I am less afraid now of the other, than I used to be." In her current project with the working title 'built on papa's broken dreams' she is searching for connections in between historical progress and individual experience by listen to stories from individuals. After October Moose Space will close after 5 years studio and 3 years project space because her international adventure is calling louder. "It is possible that I will open a project space again once."
